This year Lowa plans to shine a spotlight on a footwear category that is often overlooked — women’s military boots.
At SHOT Show 2011, Peter Sachs, general manager for Lowa Boots Inc., showed us two new female-focused boots. Lowa is adding the Lowa Elite Desert and the Lowa Zephyr GTX Mid for women. These two models were picked based on the popularity of the men’s versions, he explained.
Sachs said that today’s forces have increasing numbers of females, and that Lowa wanted to create something specifically for them. There’s no doubt that women desire boots with form, fit and function, and it’s something that footwear designed for a man cannot provide. Sachs added that Lowa’s biggest motivating factor is building a product that’s going to truly work in the environment for which it’s intended.
Featuring split leather and fabric upper, the Elite Desert has quick drying lining and a durable rubber toe cap for extra protection. Vibram outsoles and PU midsoles offer extra cushioning and support underfoot. Also available in wide widths, this boot is only available in desert sand with an MSRP of $325/$335.
Zephyr GTX Mid
This lightweight, breathable and durable lower-cut version of the Zephyr GTX Hi is constructed of sand-colored split-leather with Cordura panels and cuffs. The Gore-Tex lining is specifically designed to provide comfort and wetness protection. The boots will soon be available in black or desert with an MSRP of $190.
Ladies, let us know what you think of these new kicks. What other brand should make women’s military boots?
