The Top 10 Gear from SHOT Show 2015
Per usual, SHOT Show was 5 days full of the latest and greatest gear from the industry’s premier brands. We hand-picked this year’s standout styles of apparel, equipment and footwear from the show so you know what to look forward to in 2015.
1. Condor Elite Line of Bags
If you’re not familiar with Condor gear, you can easily pick it out by its ultra-aggressive look. Known for its tightly woven nylon equipment, Condor packs and tactical vests have never let us down before. This year at SHOT, the brand added an even more premium line of nylon bags to its arsenal. This Condor Elite line of bags includes a messenger bag, a large assault pack, a small outdoor pack, a sling bag and an all-purpose backpack. These new versatile styles bring diversity to the Condor bag collection that the brand lacked in the past.
2. Under Armour Infil GTX
“I’ve never been more proud of a boot,” says Iiley Thompson, Under Armour’s Senior Director of Outdoor Footwear about the Infil boot. Designed specifically for tactical purposes, the Infil is as light and fast as they come. An aggressive tread and carbon-fiber plate add stability to an otherwise almost weightless boot. Also, Under Armour incorporated special design elements and camouflage colorways so that it looks super sleek. We can’t wait for it and other new Under Armour footwear to hit our store in July.
3. Rocky RLW
We’ve already reported on the new AR 670-1 compliant RLW, but the boot made its official debut at SHOT Show this year. The shoe boasts all the comfort of Rocky’s famous C4 Trainer with all the durability deemed worthy for combat. A Rocky representative told us the boot will soon be available in coyote brown, so that when the ACU converts to OCP in the summer, you’ll be able to gear up in matching coyote brown RLWs.
4. Vertx Bags 2.0
Vertx impressed us last year at SHOT Show when they showed us their very first line of tactical bags and packs. Piggybacking off that success, Vertx showed us their newest bags and packs at this years show. Referred to by Vertx Vice President Darrell Morrow as “Vertx bags 2.0” the new line offers six new bags and a collection of new accessories. Our favorite? The B-range bag, a smaller version of the popular A-Range Bag, designed for quick trips to the range.
5. Blackhawk EPOCH Duty
Blackhawk’s SERPA holster is the official holster of soldiers and marines. Now the brand has taken holster innovation one step further with its new EPOCH Duty holster. The EPOCH is a light bearing holster that accommodates most under-barrel lights on the market, including Streamlight and Surefire models. It features a thumb-activated pivot guard and patent-pending retention system.
6. Propper Series 200
While Propper has dabbled in the footwear industry in the past, this year’s SHOT marked the brand’s official debut into military and tactical boots. It’s releasing three new boot styles and the Series 200 caught our eye. Propper used top-of-the-line materials to construct this boot, including a Vibram outsole, Aegis antimicrobial lining and full-grain cattle-hide leather. As an added bonus, the coyote version will be AR 670-1 compliant once uniforms switch to OCP ACUs .
7. Bates Strike Boot
Bates, a leading law enforcement boot manufacturer, reminded everyone why it’s at the top of the industry with its newest release, the Strike boot. It features the same honeycomb TPU outer layer that was massively popular in the Code 6 style. A molded arch support and athletic cement construction keep the wearer at peak performance. The Bates Endurance Performance System offers anti-fatigue benefits, restoring energy when it’s needed most.
8. 5.11 Prefense Courser 3.5 Folding Knife
Federally Certified Force Options instructor Steve Tarani offered his expertise to the design of this knife by working directly with 5.11 to create it. If the fact that a tactical legend approved this spear-point steel blade isn’t enough for you, we got our hands on it as well. It is sturdy, reliable and ergonomically designed. The handle feels good in the hand, promoting a confident grip. Also, it features an ambidextrous opening, something any lefty will appreciate.
9. Propper Summerweight Tactical Pants
Are your lightweight tactical pants not light enough? Allow us to introduce the Summerweight Tactical Pants. With a fabric weight of around 4.4 oz., these will be the lightest tactical pants on our site. Made for wear in extreme heat, the Summerweight line also includes a short sleeve tactical shirt and a long sleeve tactical shirt. The moisture-wicking fabric not only offers maximum airflow, but also features UPF 50 for sun protection.
10. Maxpedition Incognito Laptop Backpack
Despite its status as a frontrunner in the tactical bag industry, this is the first time Maxpedition has made a laptop-specific bag. It features all the innovations expected from Maxpedition, in a low profile silhouette perfect for everyday carry. It fits laptops up to 15” as well as a tablet. It also features a fast-opening lockable CCW compartment.
